Superserien Award Predictions

MVP - Jakub Brezina (ÖBK)

There should be no other option. Jakub Brezina is by far the most valuable player in this league. The Örebro Black Knights looked like a completely different team with him and the statistics speak for themselves. 774 rushing yards (1st in the league), 11 rushing TDs (1st in the league), an 82 yard longest run (1st in the league), 0 fumbles and an extra 122 receiving and 265 kick return yards. Nothing short of spectacular.

QB of the Year - Miles Richardson (KP)

1st in passing yards, 3rd in rushing yards, a total of 29 touchdowns (21 passing/8 rushing), Miles Richardson is the reason the Predators are in the playoffs. His turnover problems had us almost give this award to Slade Jarman for the second year in a row, but getting Kristianstad Predators to the playoffs alongside his statistical output was too much to ignore.

RB of the Year - Vilgot Valeskog (TRC)

Valeskog was the much needed balance to Tyreso Royal Crowns’s strong passing offense. Finishing second in the league in rushing yards and third in touchdowns is an impressive feat for the young RB, who will only get better with time. If he stays in Superserien, he’ll be a contender for awards every single year.

WR of the Year - Joshua Hicks (AIK)

The receiving yards leader of the league and a proper safety blanket for AIK Quarterback Max Lambert. There were a lot of raised eyebrows, when Hicks made the switch from championship contender Tyresö to a struggling AIK, but the ladder stayed in playoff contention for the entirety of the year and pulled off upsets against the Mean Machines and Vikings. Instant impact like this plus his statistical output make him our “WR of the Year”!

OL of the Year - Samuel Wretman (SMM)

Wretman would’ve already been a great shout last year, when Stockholm made it all the way to the SM Final. The former Rutgers LT has been nothing short of exceptional once again this year and rightfully earned himself a move to the ELF’s Nordic Storm.

DL of the Year - Caesar Winsnes (TRC)

This dude had 12,5 sacks in 8 games - do we need to say more? He also racked up 32,5 total tackles, 15,5 TFLs, 5 forced fumbles and 2 PBUs. A no brainer of an award.

LB of the Year - Edvin Jönsson (ÖBK)

Jönsson was all over the place this year and stepped up his game significantly from the past season as well. 53 total tackles, 13,5 for loss, 6,5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 4 recovered and 4 PBUs is nothing short of an incredible statline for an inside LB. There might be a chance that the Crusader’s Mattias Eriksson takes home that award for a record 4th time, but in our eyes, Jönsson was the most complete LB this year.

DB of the Year - Elias Rosenkvist (CC)

Defensive back of the Year is the most unpredictable of all the awards. In the end, we decided to go with the Crusader’s Elias Rosenkvist, who recorded 17,5 total tackles, 3,5 of them for loss alongside 5 interceptions and 4 PBUs.

ST/K of the Year - Ludwig Bruun (CT)

767 kick return yards in 7 games. Bruun provided a much needed relief for an otherwise struggling Towers offense. A deserving special teams player of the year in our eyes.

Coach of the Year - Branko Mutic (ÖBK)

Mutic took over a good Örebro team from Sam EIsenstadt and turned them into a force in swedish football. In just one season!

His run-heavy style of play, along with the choice to go with swedish national team QB Ekberg and moving former play caller Trevor Vasey out to wide receiver proved to be the right moves. After the regular season it was “only” the 3 seed for the former champions but they had the chance to lead the league up until the last game of the year.
