Dominant defense and explosive plays send Mureș to championship showdown with
Bucharest.

The Mureș Monsters are heading back to the big stage!
On a blistering afternoon in Târgu Mureș, the home side dismantled the Timișoara 89ers, 26–6 in a playoff performance that left no doubts. From bone-rattling hits to breakaway scores, the Monsters imposed their will. Now they’re just one win away from glory.
This matchup held weight before it even kicked off. A moment of silence honored late former 89ers player Victor “Trex” Cristea, whose sudden passing cast a shadow over the game. Once the whistle blew, both teams played like it meant everything, and it did.
A Fight Early, Then a Flood
Timișoara came in with a new-look roster and real urgency. For the first half, things were competitive. After a dazzling 75-yard catch-and-run from Monsters receiver Quevin Redding opened the scoring, the 89ers fired back with a clock-burning drive capped by quarterback Tamás Szabó on the ground. At halftime, the scoreboard read 8–6. The upset dream was still alive.
Then it collapsed.
Second-Half Surge
Redding – nearly unguardable – struck again in the third quarter, slipping tackles and bursting free for another long touchdown. It wasn’t just him, though. On the next drive, linebacker Keanu Thames flipped the game on its head with a 42-yard pick-six that brought the stadium to its feet.
Timișoara’s response? Two promising drives, both ended with turnovers, including a second interception by Thames, who was everywhere. By the fourth quarter, Mureș had taken full control.
A late sack and safety by Felix Schöllhorn was the exclamation point. Final score: 26–6.
Built For This Moment
While imports like Redding and Thames stole headlines, it was a complete performance. Quarterback Hunor Szölösi kept the offense calm and sharp. Local contributors like Georgescu, Fekete, and Sarosi delivered in key moments. Even under pressure, the Monsters never blinked.
Head Coach Nick Davis
Davis summed it up: "I’m really proud of how our team responded to adversity during the game. We kept our composure and executed our plan. Keeping the energy up on the field and sideline allowed us to play true Monster football. Onto the next one."

The Final Boss Awaits
Now comes the real test: Bucharest.
The Rebels are the kings of Romanian football. Five straight championships, a deep and dangerous roster, and the only team to beat Mureș this year. They play fast, they hit hard, and they know how to win when it counts. Representing the capital, they’ve become the symbol of sustained dominance.
However, this isn’t the same Monsters squad that fell short earlier in the season. They’re battle-tested, peaking at the right time, and hungry for revenge.
RoBowl XV is set: Monsters vs. Rebels. Power vs. pedigree. Fire vs. foundation.
And this time, the Monsters believe it ends differently.
