CNFA 2025 — Week 6 Recap

Playoff Picture Is Set: Who’s Ready for the Postseason?

Week 6 of the CNFA 2025 season has come to a close, and with it, the regular season wrapped up with excitement, intensity, and a clear playoff picture. After six hard-fought games, the playoff seedings are locked in. The standings remained unchanged, but the momentum heading into the postseason couldn’t be more different for each team. Here's a breakdown of where the top four teams stand as we look ahead to the playoffs.

1. Bucharest Rebels

Record: 6-0 | Clinched #1 Seed and a Spot in the Final

The Rebels traveled to Timișoara to take on the 89ers in what many saw as a playoff preview. They left no doubt as to why they are the number one team in the league, securing a dominant victory and clinching a direct spot in the CNFA Final.

A key highlight this week was the return of Alex Irimia at quarterback. Known primarily as a wide receiver, Irimia stepped into the QB role and impressed everyone by throwing four touchdown passes. WR/DB Elijah Isaiah put on a show, scoring once on offense and making two pick-sixes on defense. DB/WR Begad Mostafa also stood out, hauling in two receiving touchdowns.

With an undefeated season under their belt, the Rebels have all the momentum going into the final. But the big question remains, can they carry this streak into the postseason when everything is on the line?

2. Mureș Monsters

Record: 4-2 | Heading to the Semifinal vs. 89ers

The Monsters hosted the Cluj Crusaders in their final regular-season game and delivered a performance that sent a strong message to their upcoming playoff opponents. From the opening kickoff, Mureș dominated on both sides of the ball.

LB Keanu Thames opened the game with a kick return touchdown, setting the tone for the rest of the match. Dual-threat WR/DB Quevin Redding added one touchdown on offense and another pick-six. QB Szőllősi Hunor had a standout day with four passing touchdowns and one running touchdown. WR Rigmanyi Zsombor caught two of them.

The Monsters cruised to a 52–6 win over Cluj. Now, they prepare to face the 89ers in the semifinal for a shot at the Robowl.

3. Timișoara 89ers

Record: 2-4 | Semifinal Bound vs. Monsters

Despite a solid start against the top-seeded Rebels, the 89ers couldn’t maintain their momentum and eventually fell short. Still, there's a lot to be optimistic about in Timișoara, especially heading into the semifinals.

WR/RB Andrei Holtz continued to evolve into a reliable offensive weapon, scoring one touchdown and getting more touches each game. RB/QB CJ Arnold is also growing in confidence as a passer, throwing a touchdown and contributing effectively in the ground game. On defense, DE Michael Pope was a disruptive force, racking up multiple tackles and anchoring the defensive line.

With several key players returning from injury, the 89ers might be the dark horse of the playoffs. If they can put it all together, their matchup with the Monsters could be a real thriller.

4. Cluj Crusaders

Record: 0-6 | Season Concluded

The Crusaders faced the Monsters in Week 6, and while they managed to get on the scoreboard, they couldn’t keep up with the dominant Mureș squad. Despite the struggles, there were some bright spots in an otherwise challenging season.

WR Marian Mikacs found the end zone and played both ways, contributing on defense as well. Unfortunately, one player alone couldn’t carry the team. The game was marked by high tensions and penalties, reflecting the intense rivalry between Cluj and Mureș.

Though the Crusaders finish the season winless, there's hope for the future. The team is actively recruiting and developing young talent, laying the groundwork for a stronger and more competitive roster in the coming years. If their youth program continues to grow, expect Cluj to bounce back with a vengeance.

We got to mention that this season we saw two forfeits that impacted the regular season schedule. As a result, the Bucharest Rebels were only able to play four out of their six scheduled games, through no fault of their own. Both Timișoara and Cluj missed one game each due to these forfeits. Out of the four teams, the Mureș Monsters were the only team to complete all six regular season games, showing consistency and commitment throughout the season.

What’s Next?

With the Rebels already booked for the final, all eyes now turn to the Monsters vs. 89ers semifinal in two weeks. Both teams have plenty of firepower, but only one can earn the right to face the undefeated Rebels in the Robowl.

Get ready, playoff football is here! Let the battle for the CNFA crown begin.
