1. Guelfi Firenze
Guelfi Firenze's journey toward a back-to-back title continues in Ferrara with yet another strong performance from Coach Fabrizio Bocci's team.
The Tuscans defeated Aquile Ferrara on the road 40-12, putting their purple Ferrari in fourth gear as they race toward the Italian Bowl and, perhaps, something more important.
Meanwhile, four wins in as many games allow the Florentines to once again achieve their playoff goal and dream of another title that would confirm their place among the great teams in Italy and Europe.
While awaiting the match against the Dolphins Ancona in two weeks, the Guelfi will also have to look eastward, to the match between the Belgrade Blue Dragons and the Kragujevac Wild Boars, which will determine the opponent in the second-round CEFL matchup scheduled for May 16th at the Guelfi Sport Center.
2. Frogs Legnano
The same goes for the Frogs Legnano, who, with their 36-0 victory over Rhinos Milano in the Milan Derby, their fourth consecutive victory, have secured at least a spot in the Wild Card Round.
What was supposed to be a transition year is proving to be a not-to-be-missed opportunity to bring a title to Lombardy, missing for seven years (Seamen Milano, 2019) and to the black and silver colors for 31 years (a 32-26 victory in Cesenatico over Gladiatori Roma).
Unlike the Guelfi, the Frogs will be back on the field this weekend, this time against Dolphins Ancona, a team on the rise and coming off two consecutive victories. They will be rehearsing briefly in preparation for the May 24th game against Florence, a date that could make or break the playoffs.
3. Parma Panthers
The Panthers' bye week after their loss to Guelfi should have been a time for reflection, but Giaguari Torino’s loss in Rome has revived their hopes for a potential playoff high-place finish.
The Parma Panthers are just a win away from securing a postseason berth, and the April 25th game against Aquile Ferrara, a team struggling, will be the perfect opportunity to keep dreaming.
4. Giaguari Torino
This weekend's blow was much less than usual. A 49-48 buzzer-beater loss to the Lazio Marines complicated the Piedmontese team's plans, with two games remaining before the end of their regular season.
Sunday's loss was a wasted opportunity in a no-holds-barred game that saw the black-and-yellow team fight to the very end, but the touchdown at the end of the game led to what many in the league consider the most shocking upset of the 2026 season.
Now that Giaguari have already qualified for the playoffs and that Guelfi and Frogs are running arm-in-arm in the lead and undefeated, mistakes will be minimized against two contenders like Legnano and Parma.
5. Dolphins Ancona
The Dolphins are finally starting to show significant signs of recovery after a difficult start to the season, as demonstrated by their 36-19 road victory over Warriors Bologna.
Dolphins Ancona earned their second consecutive victory against the bottom club in the Italian Football League, playing well and demonstrating that they can aspire to the playoffs' final spots if they can improve further.
Unfortunately, they have two games ahead of them against top-tier teams in the Italian Football League, namely Frogs Legnano and Guelfi Firenze, in the next two weeks.
6. Aquile Ferrara
Aquile Ferrara are starting to lose steam after a strong start to the season. The loss against Guelfi Firenze is the third in a row for the Estense team, which is faltering along the way.
Despite their strong performance against the league leaders, Ferrara continues its downward spiral, suffering another setback.
The Week 8 match against Parma will be a do-or-die challenge for the Emilian team, which further risks ending a season with high expectations on the back foot.
7. Lazio Marines
The most unexpected result of this week, and perhaps of the season, came from Rome, where Lazio Marines, who had been beaten in their previous four games this year, defeated Giaguari Torino with a last-second Hail Mary pass.
In a no-holds-barred game, Cooper Heisey's players took home a victory that had almost always eluded them, especially in their first three games of the season, where they demonstrated excellent performance despite the losses.
After the Bye Week, the Roman team will face Rhinos Milano in a match that could revitalize their ambitions this season.
8. Rhinos Milano
We're not there yet. Another disappointing performance for the Rhinos, who this time were annihilated by Frogs Legnano without scoring a single point.
It's a worrying situation for the Milanese team, which has conceded 183 points in four games, an average of 46 points per game, a sobering statistic given the high expectations created around the team at the start of the year.
The offense is also not in great shape. They scored 88 points, most of them in the Week 1 game against Parma (56), before scoring just 32 in the other three games.
The match against the Warriors Bologna this weekend will determine whether the Rhinos still have something to say in this Italian Football League.
9. Warriors Bologna
After a month off, much more was expected from the Warriors, who have had time and opportunity to recover some injured players and refresh their minds ahead of a season finale full of important games and tests.
The loss against the Dolphins did yield something, but the defeat still leaves Christian Nobile's team once again in last place in the standings, a position shared with the Rhinos Milano.
Rhinos Milano will be their next opponent in the match that, ironically, is considered the mother of all games, the Tank Bowl, to determine which of the two teams will be condemned to last place.
