Another thrilling week on the field (and in the stands) brought plenty of excitement and some serious movement in the rankings. From unexpected upsets to dramatic finishes, this weekend had it all. We witnessed standout performances, rising stars, and teams stepping up when it mattered most. It’s moments like these that remind us why we love the game. So, who made the biggest statement this week? Let’s take a closer look at the teams that came out on top!
1st: Vienna Vikings
Another dominant week for the Austrian squad; they are the best offensive corps right now. 2 weeks in, they hold nearly 450 yards per game in offense with only 270 allowed. The defense had two pick-6s early in the game and the whole offense was clicking. Their first real test comes against the nearby Rhein Fire next weekend.
2nd: Rhein Fire
It was a bye week for the Rhein-ing champions. Now the question is if they can hold on to that top spot in the weeks to come? Let’s see next week against the Vikings!
3rd: Nordic Storm
It was their first game without Glen, but you wouldn’t have guessed it; the team handled the Panthers without much trouble. Jadrian Clark wasted no time finding his rhythm, already showing strong chemistry with Brandan Beaulieu, who’s quickly become his go-to target through the air. Next up: a matchup against the Thunder that, at least on paper, looks like a manageable challenge.
4th: Paris Musketeers
They had something to prove, and they did just that. If there was any doubt about what this team is capable of, their defense just sent a clear message to the entire league. Many viewed this as their first real test, and if you ask the Surge offense how it went, they’ll probably describe it as a nightmare – especially in the redzone. If the offense can start to find its rhythm and build chemistry in next week’s clash with the Galaxy, this team has to be taken seriously.
5th: Stuttgart Surge
In what turned out to be a defensive battle, Stuttgart managed a few standout plays on both sides of the ball. Unfortunately, they ran into a shutdown machine, especially when it came to crucial third-downs. On offense, Reilly Hennessey and his crew struggled to build any real momentum, unable to break through the pressure and find the rhythm they had last week. They’ll have a chance at redemption next week against the Sea Devils.
6th: Munich Ravens
This team is looking seriously impressive! In just his first few games in Europe, Russell Tabor already seems fully acclimated to the new style of play, putting up a dominant performance with five total touchdowns against the Thunder. On the defensive side, Etuale Lui, with his Kiwi toughness, was the heartbeat of the defense. He was clearly the standout player. With a bye week coming up, the team now has the perfect opportunity to rest and regroup before tackling the next stretch of the season.
7th: Frankfurt Galaxy
With 250 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns, Sandro Platzgummer put on a show against the Bravos, but he wasn’t the only one grinding. At one point, the team found themselves trailing by a possession with the tension clear along the sideline. However, Frankfurt rallied, fought back, and returned home with a well-earned win. Next week, they’ll face a new challenge as they host the Musketeers and try to break through Cardinal Richelieu’s famously tough defense.
8th: Tirol Raiders
A win is a win, even if it comes against one of the league’s projected bottom teams. With Connor Miller resting, it was Adrian Platzgummer who took charge of the offense. As a result, the game leaned heavily on the ground attack, with Bonatti and Haslwanter sharing both the carries and the scoring duties. Next week, they’ll take on the Centurions, aiming to improve their record to 2-1.9th : Madrid Bravos
9th: Madrid Bravos
It wasn’t a bad game by any means. This team showed real flashes of greatness. When it mattered most though, they couldn’t quite unlock the end zone, with two crucial interceptions thrown painfully close to paydirt. Still, there’s no time to dwell on turnovers – they’ll have a chance to bounce back and keep their season on track with what looks like a more favorable matchup against the Mercenaries next weekend. No doubt they should climb up the ladder in the foreseeable future.10th : Hamburg Sea Devils
10th: Hamburg Sea Devils
Moritz Maack stepped in as interim quarterback while fans await Taulia Tagovailoa’s much-anticipated debut in Europe. The Sea Devils leaned heavily on the run game in Week 2, and that ground-first approach paid off. If they can maintain that consistency, they’ll keep climbing. Next week, all eyes will be on whether they can make a big statement against the previously top-ranked Surge.11th : Wrocław Panthers
11th: Wrocław Panthers
It’s never easy to slow down a Jadrian Clark-led offense, and facing his new team proved just as challenging. A.J. Wentland delivered another strong performance, and the offense continues to show growth week by week. We got a glimpse of what this team is becoming – not quite contenders yet, but far from being written off. With a bye week ahead, they’ll have a valuable opportunity to regroup and scout the Lions before their Week 3 showdown.
12th: Thunder Berlin
Even though they trailed by two possessions for most of the game, they stuck to what they do best. This time though, it just wasn’t enough. Sullivan had an impressive outing with 342 passing yards and 2 touchdowns, but the entire ground game sputtered as they were held to under 30 yards rushing. Next week’s matchup against the Sea Devils will be their chance to show they deserve to be taken seriously in this league.
13th: Prague Lions
Prague honestly didn’t have much time with the ball. When they did, mistakes piled up, including 71 yards lost on 9 penalties and multiple costly turnovers. Still, there are plenty of positives to build upon. This might just be the most improved team compared to last season. They’ll look to turn potential into results next week as they take on the Fehérvár Enthroners as the Lions search of their first win.
14th: Helvetic Mercenaries
It was a tough outing for the Swiss squad who struggled to get anything going on the field. This was one of those games they’ll want to put behind them quickly. Hopefully, they can bounce back with a stronger performance next week against the Bravos.
15th: Fehérvár Enthroners
They lost to what might be the best-looking team at this early stage of the season, so in itself, the defeat isn’t too alarming. The real concern lies in their struggling defense, which had a hard time keeping up. Next week, they’ll take on the Lions where one team will emerge with their first win of the summer.
16th: Cologne Centurions
Cologne was on a bye week, so they didn’t have the opportunity to climb the rankings. This explains their current spot for now. Let’s hope their extra time for preparation can get them on the winning side of things.
