Tyresö gets it’s championship
After a lot of years of being the dark horse to win the prestigious SM-Guld, the Tyresö Royal Crowns can finally call themselves Champions of Sweden upsetting #1 seed Carlstad and #3 seed Stockholm in the semis and final respectively.
This team had arguably no weakness and only finished in the #4 seed by having a game overturned and losing to both SMM and Calrstad with only one score each during the regular season.
While the semi against the Crusaders could’ve gone either way, the final proved that the Royal Crowns are the deserving 2026 champions.
The Stockholm Mean Machines rebuild
After missing out on the playoffs entirely last season, this year was supposed to be a rebuild for the former serial champions Stockholm Mean Machines and boy did they deliver.
Making it back to the SM final on their first try after a disastrous 2025 season shows how deep the Stockholm talent pool is.
Good late season reinforcements paired with good coaching showed that SMM is once again a force to be reckoned with.
Imports run away with awards
Having a good group of Imports once again proved to be the way to go in Superserien this year.
Of course, the better the homegrown talent the easier it is to be successful but almost all of the awards went to either American or European Imports this season.
Here’s a breakdown:
MVP - De’Anta Sipp (CC)
QB - Dawson Herl (SMM)
RB - Dominik Kapas (LG)
OL - Isaiah Foote (TRC)
WR - Stefan Borkovic (TRC)
DL - Malcolm Engström (TRC)
LB - Tate Gustafson (GG)
DB - Donovan McConnell (ÖBK)
ST/K - Christoffer Helgar (CC)
Engström, Helgar and Kapas were the only Homegrowns to receive an award with the ladder being the only player from a team not in playoff contention.
Depth is more important than anything
If you were listening around before the season, Örebro and Carlstad were the favorites to win this year’s championship. But early season injury troubles for the Black Knights and a few hard hitting injuries for the Crusaders late in the season ultimately resulted in both teams getting eliminated in the Semis already.
Swedish Football got more exciting this year
There was no unbeaten team this season.
The Top 4 traded wins within each other while Limhamn, Kristianstad and AIK were arguably on the same level. Only Gothenburg finished in the middle of the pack but has tremendous future upside.
With TRC winning their first trophy in a while, SMM reclaiming their seed in the finals and the Crusaders and Örebro teams only coming back stronger next year, Superserien will be Must-See-TV once more.
