IFL Power Ranking - Week 4

1. Guelfi Firenze

There are few words to describe this Saturday's performance by the Guelfi at home against the Rhinos Milano. It was a magnificent performance by the players coached by Fabrizio Bocci, who left their opponents with only crumbs.

The Tuscans won the match as a team; there's no one name in particular to highlight, although the biggest compliments go to Karim Diop, a player from the youth team who scored his first IFL touchdown.

In three weeks, the first test of the season arrives: the Parma Panthers, the team currently top of the league, at home.

2. Panthers Parma

A famous Italian ad says: "Do you like winning easily?". In this case, suffering is part of these Panthers' DNA.

Another victory for the Emilian team, who passed the Dolphins test, albeit with some scares towards the end, with the defense blocking the decisive field goal with just seconds left, capping a final quarter of 22 scored points out of 29.

The same goes for them: The match against Guelfi Firenze will be decisive for the Ducali, now at the top of the standings, along with Aquile Ferrara and Frogs Legnano.

3. Frogs Legnano

Two wins out of two in the championship after a tough match against Lazio Marines, confirming the Frogs as one of the top forces in the standings.

The black and silver brigade, after the strong victory against Warriors Bologna, struggled more than they should have in Rome, but still managed to bring home a triumph that allows them to remain clinging to the palace of undefeated teams in the standings, namely the top four.

The home clash against Aquile Ferrara on April 12th could be the first crossroads of the season for a team with great potential.

4. Aquile Ferrara

Last week's win over the Lazio Marines has freshened things up for Ferrara, who have been suspended due to not playing this week.

Their only scheduled game in Week 5 will pit them against Giaguari Torino, and we'll already know if the Emilians can join the playoff party.

5. Giaguari Torino

Also on hold this weekend, the Black and Yellow team saw the top four temporarily slip away due to that 1-game losing streak they suffered in the first week of the season.

The same goes for them: After the first three league games, it's time for confirmation, and the home game against Ferrara will determine whether Giaguari can soar.

6. Dolphins Ancona

Perhaps it's still early to talk about disappointments, but the Dolphins' 0-2 record after their first two league games gives us pause for thought.

After a poor performance against Torino, the Dorici fell just yards short of a resounding victory in their home debut at the last minute, but the great work of the Panthers' Special Team, which blocked the decisive field goal, brought the defending Italian runner-up team back down to earth.

The Week 6 home match against the Lazio Marines is already a do-or-die affair for Rik Parker's boys, who are forced to revitalize themselves after two disappointing games.

7. Lazio Marines

The 0-3 record is a complete lie for these Marines, who even fought until the end against the Frogs Legnano, in their first home game of the season.

This team has great potential, with some very talented players, but they've often run out of steam before the final whistle, and this has characterized the start of the season for Cooper Heisey's team.

The away game against the Dolphins Ancona in three weeks will be another test for the Biancocelesti, still chasing their first win of the season.

8. Rhinos Milano

After the great game against the Panthers Parma in Week 1, where they came close to an upset, the match against Guelfi Firenze should have been their confirmation, or rather, the perfect opportunity to realize that they too could be in the playoff race, but that wasn't the case.

The final 54-6 deficit, with Bruno Escobar's only touchdown coming in the final quarter and with the Mercy Rule already in effect, is a cold shower for the Milanese team, who return home with many things to sort out.

Given the current situation, the next two games against the Giaguari and Frogs will be the culmination of a very difficult start to the season given their opponents.

9. Warriors Bologna

We won't hear from the Warriors for a while, as Christian Nobile's team will be on a four-week layoff.

Their 0-3 record, which places them bottom of the standings, and the month-long break between various bye weeks and Easter, will help them recover many injured players and regain what they lost in the first three games of the season.
