1. Vienna Vikings
Last year's runners-up reloaded impressively, replacing departures with even better talent. Their professional structure and late off-season moves make them the favorites in the title contention. The key to this amazing team in 2025 is “improvement on continuity,” both between the player and the coaches. The heartbreak of 2024's final will fuel their fire this season.
2. Stuttgart Surge
Two transformative seasons have positioned Surge as legitimate contenders. Built to exacting standards by one of the league's best coaching staffs, their mix of national team talent and high-level imports could deliver their first championship. They’ll find extra motivation in having a chance to play the Championship Game at home this year, we’ll see if they can make it all the way.
3. Rhein Fire
The two-time defending champions retain the top spot until dethroned? Not this time. They've lost key pieces both at the players and coaching positions. Their dominant trenches and smart reinforcements should keep them high on the standings, but there are doubts to be proven wrong. Rhein Fire remains an elite organization, with an intimidating home-field advantage and the league's most successful head coach. We’ll see if they can prove us wrong and go for the three-peat.
4. Nordic Storm
The league's newest franchise boasts one of the strongest national player pools thanks to expanded homegrown rules, the Storm get both Denmark and Sweden. They also signed a bunch of the most successful import players. While expectations are high, their success depends on avoiding typical expansion team growing pains.
5. Paris Musketeers
An NFL partnership (with the New Orleans Saints), a NFL caliber HC in Jack Del Rio, new ownership, and a star quarterback in Jaylon Henderson make Paris dangerous. After underachieving relative to talent, this could be their breakthrough year if their revamped roster clicks immediately. On the downside they have the toughest start to the season of the whole ELF, they’ll need to stay in the contenders conversation despite that.
6. Madrid Bravos
The Spanish franchise proved they belong in the league with their impressive debut season, blending veteran but young homegrown talent with strategic imports. Their physical offensive line and defensive front make them a tough matchup for any opponent. With an NFL-experienced quarterback and championship-winning coach now leading the way, Madrid looks ready to challenge for a playoff spot and maybe even more.
7. Frankfurt Galaxy
The inaugural champions suffered through QB instability last season. Now more settled with key national players and strong imports, they should return to playoff form behind improved roster continuity.
8. Tirol Raiders
Consistently underachieving relative to talent, the Raiders dominate the trenches but face QB questions. They’ve turned to the legendary QB Conor Miller for 2025. If this solves their passing game issues, their physical style could make them dark horse contenders.
9. Munich Ravens
The Bavarian squad remains intriguing after retooling with a new QB and reshaped roster. While they lost some key contributors, their strong German talent base provides stability. If their new offensive system clicks early, Munich could push for a surprise playoff berth in the tough South.
10. Wrocław Panthers
Perennially on the playoff bubble, Wrocław boasts one of the league's deepest national rosters and smart import additions. Their physical brand of football and disciplined approach makes them a nightmare matchup. With key veterans entering their prime and improved continuity, this might finally be their breakthrough season. Don't be surprised if they reach the semi-finals.
11. Hamburg Sea Devils
Hamburg's rebuild appears complete after retaining their promising young core while adding impact players. Their trademark physical defense, with the addiction of 3 times DPOY Kyle Kitchens, and revamped offense could make them this season's dark horse. While new pieces need time to mesh, the Sea Devils have all the tools to return to playoff contention in the loaded North Division. There are questions though as we saw their Head Coach Fatah leaving the team less than a week prior to the opening game off the season.
12. Helvetic Mercenaries
The Swiss franchise continues ascending with a smart blend of young talent and veteran leadership. Their improved roster can compete with anyone when healthy, though depth remains a concern. Expect them to pull off some upsets while building toward future contention.
13. Prague Lions
Prague shows steady progress each season through strong player development. Their dangerous passing attack and improved defense make them a legitimate spoiler. While likely a year away from playoff contention, they'll challenge every opponent in their division.
14. Berlin Thunder
Berlin fields a fundamentally sound team that excels in situational football. Their balanced roster and strong coaching make them a tough weekly opponent. While lacking star power outside of the import QB Sullivan, their attention to detail could produce some surprise results against higher-ranked foes in the competitive North Division.
15. Fehervar Enthroners
Hungary's team demonstrates clear growth through smart roster building. Their developing national core shows promise, though the ELF's rising level makes wins challenging. This season should see them be more competitive while laying groundwork for future success.
16. Cologne Centurions
In transition, Cologne is giving young German talent expanded opportunities. While this may be a rebuilding year, their storied history suggests better days ahead. Patient development could return them to relevance in coming seasons.
