Swiss NLA – Week 8 Power Rankings

1st. Calanda Broncos:

The Calanda Broncos remain the gold standard in Swiss football. A dominant win in the CEFL quarterfinal against the Wild Boars is further fueling hopes for a championship double. Max Gray is currently the favorite for the MVP award. Head Coach Geoff Buffum is once again the frontrunner for Head Coach of the Year. Robin Sennrich also seems to be fully healthy again.

2nd. Basel Gladiators:

The lopsided loss to the Broncos appears to have been a one-off. With the win over direct rivals from Bern, the Gladiators have all but secured the #2 seed. It seems that this year, Basel is ahead of Bern not only in soccer.

3rd. Bern Grizzlies:

The loss to Basel means Bern will likely have to play their playoff game in Basel. Not an easy task for the team from the capital.

4th. Thun Tigers:

The Tigers have been competitive in every game but only managed to secure their first wins of the season against Geneva and Winterthur. The race for the final playoff spot is heating up. Veteran Swiss quarterback Nicolas Leibundgut is playing out of his mind this season.

5th. Geneva Seahawks:

The Seahawks have now lost three games in a row. What once seemed to be a guaranteed fourth playoff spot is no longer a certainty.

6th. Winterthur Warriors:

The Warriors were the positive surprise of the first half of the season. However, losses to direct playoff rival Thun and a surprising derby defeat to St. Gallen have dampened the hype a bit.

7th. St. Gallen Bears:

The Bears have been plagued by injuries. Nonetheless, they managed to celebrate their first win of the season against Winterthur.

8th. Zürich Renegades:

Zürich continues to lose every game by eight to ten scores. Their downfall needs to be studied.
