Superserien Offseason: News You Can Use #3

BLACK KNIGHTS RE-SIGN COACHES MUTIC ANS ISAACSON

The Örebro Black Knights have extended their HC Branko Mutic throughout the 2026 season.

Last year’s Coach of the Year is coming off the back of a stellar campaign that saw the Black Knights compete for the #1 seed up until the final week of the season, where they lost to the eventual champion Carlstad Crusaders.

Mutic, who is also the Offensive Line Coach for the swedish national team and a former Offensive Lineman himself, is known for a ground and pound approach with his offense, that was build on the shoulder of import RB Jakub Brezina, QB Viktor Ekberg and long-time Örebro WR Trevor Vasey.

Another key signing for the 2026 season is the one of OC Joel Isaacson, who returns to the Black Knights for yet another season.

The former Örebro signal caller is also part of the national team coaching staff and will once again install an explosive and efficient offensive system.

His goal will be to develop the homegrown players into potential assets for their offense.

With his background in Quarterback play and youth development his re-signing could be a hint that the Black Knights might go with a homegrown Quarterback once again after the success they’ve had with Viktor Ekberg the previous season.

CRUSADERS ADD ELF TALENT TO THEIR ROSTER

After the retirement of both Alex Gudding and Mattias Eriksson, as well as the departure of QB Slade Jarman, the Crusaders were looking at three major holes in their roster for the upcoming season.

After one of the openings has been closed with the signing of german LB Eric Bauroth, we now know who is going to complete the Crusader’s “rebuild” at those positions.

OLB Yann Hinder, who was a surprise standout at ELF level last season, where he finished #6 overall in combined tackles in the entire league, will fill the second vacant LB spot for the Crusaders.

Hinder & Bauroth are both only 23 and 24 years old but racked up almost 200 combined tackles last season. Two interesting assets for DC Tracey Gere, who will for sure find creative ways to use his two new Linebackers.

The third signing of the offseason is the one of QB Jackson Erdmann, who won the ELF Championship in 2022 with the Vienna Vikings.

After he initially retired from football after that game, he’s now returning to Europe to play with offensive linemen Niklas Johansson and Matthew Daltrey (if he re-signs) once again.

Erdmann was a D-III standout at college level where he won their equivalent of the Heismann-Trophy and is now looking to lead a prolific Crusaders offense.

SWEDISH TALENTS COMMIT TO COLLEGE

The Tyresö Royal Crowns have lost DT Adrian Bekibele to college.

The three-star DT and RIG Academy graduate has committed to Kansas State after posting 8,5 Tackles alongside 1,5 TFLs and 1 Sack in just 4 games this previous season.

But he’s not the only big time swedish prospect to commit to a program overseas.

Tight End Maximilian Tillfeldt Retsler and Standout Edge Rusher Gustaf Henrik Ras will take ther talents to the University of Wake Forest and Boise State respectively.

Retsler had not previously played in the swedish first division but also attended RIG Academy in Uppsala while Ras had a breakout season with AIK, where he posted 21 total tackles as well as 9 TFLs, 2 Fumble recoveries and 8 Sacks in just 6 games, including two separat 3-Sack-Performances.

ROYAL CROWNS ANNOUNCE TREVOR VASEY

The Tyresö Royal Crowns have a new Quartberback!

Trevor Vasey, the Superserien’s all time passing leader with a total of over 5.000 yards jumps ship from the Örebro Black Knights to Stockholm, where he will inherit the offense from previous signal caller Jared Heywood.

The american veteran Vasey has played in Örebro for a long time, first as a QB and then last season as a Wide Receiver, when the Black Knights decided to give the reigns to Viktor Ekberg.

Maybe that was part of the decision to return to his original position now with a very very talented receiving group in Tyresö.
