Giaguari's Quest: Overcoming Varese Skorpions in IFL Week 4 The Torino Giaguari (2-1) will be tested mightily this upcoming weekend as they face the Vares Skorpions () in week 4 of the Italian Football League season. The Giaguari have played well this season, but this matchup will be a real indicator of how serious they are to becoming Italian Bowl contenders. Let’s take a look at this team on the rise. Early Season Success The Giaguari began the season with an old-fashioned shootout against the Milano Rhinos in the Kickoff Classic, winning a close game 43-42. The offense, led by Nicholas Dalmasso, was explosive all game long, scoring quickly and often. The defense had a rough go of it, but held strong when needed. The following week saw the Torino team put up another 40+ point performance against the hapless Bologna Warriors. The defense was able to limit their opponents to only 7 points, making the game a convincing win. After starting 2-0 on the season, the Giaguari were slapped with a taste of reality. They took a shellacking from the Legnano Frogs with a score of 36-7. Between the weather and just bad play all around, the Torino team should probably burn the film from that game. Luckily, they have had 2 weeks to shake off that loss and prepare for Varese. What to Expect from Torino Giaguari Despite a bad outing two weeks ago, the Giaguari still boast one of the best offenses in the IFL. Quarterback Nicholas Dalmasso is the unit’s fearless leader, and will play an important role in the team’s success or failure against the Skorpions. Dalmasso does a great job getting the ball to his playmakers all over the field, quickly. Receiver Adrian Tolbert is his favorite big-play target, but Andrea Serra, Tamsir Seck, and Lorenzo Bassi are also recipients of Dalmasso’s generosity with the ball. The team tends to pass heavily because of all the weapons available, but running back Tommaso Tenconi gives the Giaguari a solid running game when needed. Defensively, the Giaguari leave a lot to be desired. As a unit, they have been respectable against the run game, but have difficulties stopping the pass game of their opponents. Despite their troubles, they play competitively and force offenses to work the entire field to score. Top Performers Torino Giaguari have lots of talented players worth paying attention to in their upcoming matchup. Torino will be able to move the ball on offense, and might even score a few times, but their defense will not hold up for four quarters against the Skorpions onslaught of talent and offensive prowess.

Sunday March 24 at 12:00 (CET), the Camioneros de Coslada (3-3) will host the Alcobendas Cavaliers (0-7) at the Valleaguado Sports Center. Both teams have played a total of 5 times all time between Serie B and Serie A (Spanish second and first division), with a record of 4-1 for the Cavaliers. Earlier this year their matchup was the first time the team of Coslada, who is having a pretty good season, was able to beat Alcobendas by a score of 18-21. It was an exciting game where the Camioneros were up by 21 at halftime, but the Cavaliers almost made a comeback, scoring 18 points in the second half. Cavaliers playing for pride Alcobendas Cavaliers, who are the only team in the league without any import players, have had a rough season. In just their second season in the Spanish first division, Cavaliers are 0-7 entering Week 9 (only the Barcelona Pagesos of the Eastern Conference are also winless). This week they are playing for pride to win a game, and to claim a home seed in the relegation game against the worst team of the other conference, which will be played in late April. Despite the record, they have great players on the roster, some of them playing for the national team and even some recent signees for the Madrid Bravos such as domestic Quarterback David Yu, Athlete Leo Rovesti and Defensive Lineman Víctor Dos Santos. The offense is led by the well known Spaniard David Yu, and they have a young roster that is on the rise. Names such as Running Back Pablo Crespo and an up and coming receiving corps composed of Carlos López (#4 in receiving TDs in the league with 5), Rubén Pascual, Álvaro López de la Osa, David Pinto, Jaime Muñoz and Víctor Torres. The defense is definitely the strength of this team with one of the top front seven in the league. Players that stand out are the already mentioned Leo Rovesti and Víctor Dos Santos, and some other great athletes like Linebackers Anthony Maldonado, Santiago Sueiras and Defensive Backs Víctor Ramos, Juan Martínez or Jesús Niño. Camioneros wants to finish the season strong In what will be the last home game of the season for them, Coslada wants to finish a pretty strong season, where, up to date, they have only lost against the powerhouses of Las Rozas Black Demons and the Osos de Rivas. Their biggest strength is their well operated passing offense led by the young domestic Quarterback Iván López “Terry”. He has a great set of dangerous assets as Wide Receivers with names such as Ethan L. Fischer (#3 in receiving TDs in the league with 6), Mason T. Wilfong and Iván García Sala. Then on the other side of the ball, players such as domestic defensive backs Juan Antonio Gómez, Pablo Saló, and British Defensive Lineman Michael Kenshiro (Hamburg Sea Devils signee for next season) will be key for the team. Game's outcome The battle between the red and the blue team has had quite some history this past couple of years since both of them were in the Serie B, up to Serie A, with multiple playoff matches and decisive games. Until this year It was a one-sided battle, but It seems that now the balance is on the side of the squad from Coslada. The favorites are the Camioneros, but the score of their first matchup (18-21) shows that this will be an exciting game.

Saturday March 23 at 15:30 (CET), the Osos de Rivas (5-1) will host the LG OLED Las Rozas Black Demons (6-0) at the Cerro del Telégrafo stadium in a must win scenario. This is the most important game for both organizations up to date this season. Because they won by 4 points last time they met (10-6), Las Rozas, who is a win away from a perfect season, can lose by a maximum of 4 and still be the #1 seed in the West (because of point average). On their part, if Osos is able to win by a TD, they will end up as the #1. To be the leader of the conference determines who will have the advantage to play at home in the semifinals the first week of the playoffs, so It is a big deal. Last week Rivas had a great performance beating Mariners 0-39 at their home in Las Mestas, Gijón. On their part, Las Rozas is coming off a great game too, beating the Cavaliers in Alcobendas 13-44. Black Demons One Win from Perfection With a win on Saturday, the team coached by Jesús Fernández would end up the regular season unbeaten, with the #1 Seed in the Western Conference and playing the semifinals at home. On offense they excel thanks to Big names such as American Quarterback Theo Landers, rushing machines Daniel Romero and Gonzalo Haro, receiving threats such as Jorge García Vargas (injured right now), Jorge García Valcarcel, Jesús Pérez and Álvaro Molano, even alongside Carlos Carrasco, Madrid Bravo, former Cologne Centurion and one of the best Offensive Lineman in the country. Then on defense they have one of the most dominant squads in the league with big components like Defensive Linemen Sebastián Bowen, David Contreras, and Diego Paz, Linebackers Andrei Luca and American Eric Flowers, as well as  a lockdown group of defensive backs with players like Julio Aguado, Álvaro Cansinos and American Nolan Corpening. Osos Dream Big this Year Like a couple of seasons ago, Osos de Rivas wants to make a statement this year that they are the best in Spain, and they have a case for It. First off, thanks to their lockdown defense, statistically the best in the league with the fewest points allowed (only 37 total points through 6 games), thanks to names such as American Linebacker and leader of the defense, Davante Gabriel, a secondary composed of Andy Vera, Carlos Rodríguez and Daniel Franco among big names, and the well rounded and two way Lineman José Antonio Escobar “Chiapas”. They are also loaded on offense. American Quarterback Russell Tabor leads the group, and alongside him one of the best receiving corps in the nation with American Gary Tyler, Edu Pérez, Pablo Olivares and Iván Iordanov amongst them. Also they have been destroying defenses on the ground thanks to the legs of American Athlete Ronald Tomasello or the recently AFC Rangers of Austria signee, Pablo Gómez, a super young domestic prospect (20 years old) who has had a breakout season this year. Game’s Outcome Personally, I don’t think there is any favorite coming into this battle. It is by far the most difficult game to predict in the whole regular season. With such a tight first game (10-6 for Las Rozas) and two great organizations such as these two, at the top of the Spanish American football landscape in every level, everything is on the table for a big performance. Ball don’t lie and we will have to wait for Saturday because only time will tell who has the crown in the west.

Currently, he's making waves in his first season with the Gijon Mariners, competing in Serie A, Spain's premier division. His journey began last year with the Limburg Shotguns in the BNL. Going Down Memory Lane Can you share a memorable moment from your football career that truly defines you as a player? My most defining moment in my professional career was our 2023 win against The Amsterdam Crusaders, when I was playing for The Limburg Shotguns. I believe that I play best in pressure situations and this was one of the biggest games in Limburg Shotgun history. Going into the game, we were massive underdogs and nobody was giving us a chance to win. We had lost to them earlier in the season in Amsterdam by 20, and everyone in the media had already written us off for this game. We needed to win this game to keep our playoff hopes alive, but nobody except the 50 guys on our roster and some of our most loyal fans believed in us. I played one of the best games in my life, recording 2 interceptions and making some crucial 3rd and 4th down pass breakups and tackles. Our team came together more than we ever had and was able to secure a victory with a last minute touchdown on a goal line fade on 4th down with under 2 minutes to go. Winning this game was the biggest win in Shotguns history, as it was the first time they had ever beaten Amsterdam and we secured our spot in the playoffs with the win. Humble Beginnings to Football Where did you grow up, and how has your hometown influenced your football journey? I grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota on East Lake Street. My neighborhood was one of the roughest neighborhoods in Minneapolis, and for many kids, sports were an escape for us and a way to get out to get a college education and make money. As a kid I played every sport , mainly football, basketball and baseball, but football was always the sport I loved most and the sport that I knew I had the most potential to play at the next level. What sparked your interest in football, and who were your early influences in the sport? My grandfather was my biggest football influence. He and I were very similar in many ways, and as a kid one of my favorite memories is watching the NFL with him. I fell in love with the toughness and aggressiveness of the sport, which is something you can’t find anywhere else. My grandfather always believed in my football potential and was one of my biggest supporters. He always referred to the mentality of playing football as “controlled aggression” and that phrase has stuck with me throughout my career. Career Development and Major Achievements Can you walk us through your football journey, from your early days to where you are now? I started playing football in Park Board at Longfellow Park in South Minneapolis, then played at Minneapolis South High my freshman year. As a freshman, I was able to make varsity and a few games into the season I was the starting corner as a freshman. After the season I transferred to a bigger school in the district, Minneapolis Washburn, who was known as a Minneapolis athletics powerhouse and where I was able to get more eyes on me from college coaches. After high school, I committed to a Division 2 school in southern Minnesota, but COVID shut down the season, and I ended up transferring to a junior college. After playing two seasons of JuCo and one NCAA season, I started going to pro combines where I was able to get signed to the Limburg Shotguns. After having a breakout rookie year, I was selected to the US National team and played two all star games in Mexico. Afterwards,I signed to the Gijon Mariners in Spain. Do you have any noteworthy statistics or records that you believe reflect your contributions to the sport? As a sophomore in college I was named a Juco All-American as well as All-conference first team. In my professional career, as a rookie, I led the BNL in interceptions with 6, and this year I am currently leading Spain in interceptions. I believe that creating turnovers are the most important part of playing defense, because they can completely change a game in your favor. I am very proud of the turnovers I’ve been able to create to help my team be successful Getting Personal Are there any personal stories or challenges you've faced that have significantly shaped your journey? In January 2023, right before I left for Belgium for my rookie year, my grandma passed away from Alzheimer’s. My grandparents helped raise me and losing her right before I left the country, and a few years after losing my grandfather, was very difficult for me. Losing her made me question if I was making the right decision by leaving the country and leaving the rest of my family behind for the season, but I realized that she would not want me to give up on my dream of playing professional football. II played the 2023 season in memory of her, playing one of the best seasons in my career. Beyond football, what are some of your interests or passions? Outside of football, my biggest passion is giving back to my community back home through supporting our youth. Gun violence and children growing up without strong male role models in their life, are the two biggest problems in our community. During the offseason, I’m heavily involved in youth programs and coaching. I coach at TCC high school in south Minneapolis and work at Field elementary school. I also volunteer at various youth programs throughout Minneapolis, helping to mentor at-risk kids, in particular young men who are growing up without a father. Keeping young boys & men out of gang life, and the criminal justice system, through sports is my biggest passion. Playing Style & Skillset How would you describe your playing style and the skills that set you apart on the field? I would consider my talents as a ball hawk my biggest strength on the field. When the ball is in the air I believe I'm always going to come down with it, and I love the momentum swing that creating a turnover gives my team. Although my primary skill is my pass coverage, I am also known as a very hard-hitting DB. Every ball carrier knows that if they have the ball in my area, a big hit is coming. As an American import player, I understand my role is different from the local players. I believe it’s my responsibility to motivate all of my teammates and bring the team together, by leading them through my actions. Being disciplined and aggressive are the two most important factors in playing good football, and I try to live up to that standard in every game and every practice. Current Role and Future Outlook What is your current role within your team or the league, and how do you see it evolving? My current role for the Mariners is at free safety, where I am expected to lock down the opponents #1 receiver and create turnovers, as well as be the last line of defense in run support. I also return kicks and punts. I am always looking to create an explosive play to set up great field position for my offense or to put points on the board myself. I am also able to play on the offensive side of the ball at receiver in crucial situations, and I’m always trying to make a big play in a critical moment on the offensive side of the ball. Looking ahead, what are your aspirations and what goals do you hope to achieve in your future football endeavors? My goal is to play at the highest level possible in this profession. Whether that be the NFL, XFL, GFL or ELF, I believe I have the talent to play in any league. I just need the right person to see me play and give me an opportunity. Reflection In your own words, how would you summarize your legacy and the mark you've left in football? I believe that my legacy is just beginning. Helping lead the Limburg Shotguns to their biggest win in franchise history and the BNL semi finals was a great start to my career, but I am just getting started. Beyond football I hope to set an example for young men in Minneapolis to show that through hard work and dedication anything is possible and that you do not have to become a product of your environment. Is there a particular quote or message you'd like to leave with our readers that encapsulates your journey and philosophy? My favorite quote is “If it is to be, it is up to me.” Nothing in my life was ever given to me. I always had to go take it. Every opportunity I had I had to maximize to make it to the next step in my life. My message to every young football player would be that the opportunity is there, but you need to go take it, in this sport no one is going to give you any handouts, the only way to get what you want out of this game is to put everything you have into it and outwork everyone.

They tell other players what to do and throw the ball to score. Their job is really special because they need to be strong, smart, and good at leading their team. This makes the quarterback very important in helping their team win the game. What is a Quarterback? The quarterback (QB) is often seen as the leader of the team's offense. They are responsible for calling the plays, throwing the football to receivers, and sometimes running with the ball themselves. The success of an offensive play often hinges on the quarterback's decisions and abilities. Key Responsibilities CALLING PLAYS Before the action starts, the quarterback tells the team which play they're going to execute. This involves: - Understanding the game plan and selecting the right play based on the situation. - Communicating the play to the team clearly and quickly. - Making last-minute changes to the play if they notice the defense is set up to stop it. PASSING THE BALL Throwing the ball is a quarterback's main job. This requires: - Excellent hand-eye coordination to throw accurately. - The ability to judge distances and throw the ball where only the receiver can catch it. - Understanding the receivers' routes and timing the throw so the ball arrives as the receiver gets to the right spot. RUNNING WITH THE BALL Sometimes, quarterbacks will run with the ball. Here's a look at five of the top quarterbacks in the league so far. Nicholas Dalmasso, Torino Giaguari Nicholas Dalmasso has looked nearly perfect after 3 games, putting up 763 yards in the air and completing 71% of his passes. Throw in 9 touchdowns, and it’s easy to see why Torino has started the season 2-1. Dalmasso has shown great accuracy, and the ability to get the ball to his playmakers quickly. Averaging 245.3 yards per game, he has shown the ability to make big plays with the ball in his hands, putting his team in position to score points as much as possible. Dalmasso’s rushing stats are deceiving, as he is very athletic and uses his feet well to avoid pressure and extend plays. His offensive line has not given him the best protection at times, but his athleticism has helped the entire offensive unit play at a higher level than their talent suggests. With a great understanding of the game and extraordinary decision-making skills, Nicholas Dalmasso emerges as a key catalyst for his team's success. Hamish McClure, Milano Rhinos Hamish McClure is the complete package at quarterback, exhibiting versatility and the ability to adapt to whatever his team needs him to do to be successful. In four weeks of games, McClure has totaled 864 passing yards, and 15 touchdowns to lead the highest scoring offense in the IFL so far this season. He has been consistent for his team each week, averaging 216 passing yards per game and completing 57% of his passing attempts (a number that is lowered because of receiver discrepancy). McClure is more than just a passer, racking up 201 rushing yards, displaying his agility and athleticism as a dual-threat. His best asset is the ability to recognize when a play has broken down, and use his legs to either extend the play or gain yards by running with the ball. Hamish McClure’s team is only 2-2 so far, but his play has been exceptional and given the Rhinos a chance to win every week. Ryan Griffin, Varese Skorpions Ryan Griffin has been impressively efficient for the Skorpions so far this season. In two games, the quarterback has completed 68% of his passes, and thrown zero interceptions.It’s difficult to get a true read on him after two very different games. Against a tough Guelfi team, Griffin only attempted 12 passes, completed 7 and one of those for the game winning touchdown. The following week, the quarterback lit up the Lazio Marines for 244 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Lazio game is more indicative of what this quarterback is capable of doing on a weekly basis. Ryan Griffin has a strong arm, and is one of the most accurate passers in the IFL. Despite the middle of the road stats early in the season, it would take a blind man not to see tha talent & potential in the Skorpions quarterback. His consistent performance and leadership abilities will keep Varese in the Italian Bowl discussion all season. Robbie Patterson, Parma Panthers Robbie Patterson has shown flashes of great quarterback play, hidden behind the fact the Parma offense is heavily committed to the run game (#1 in the IFL in rushing). Despite having to throw in predictable situations, Patterson has still been able to complete 54% of his passes for 322 yards and 1 touchdown. His numbers don’t look very impressive on paper, but Patterson is a gamer. He has been in two dogfights early in the season, proving that he is able to stay composed under pressure. The use of his football IQ allows him to make plays that go unnoticed to fans, but his coaches & teammates appreciate. It’s not far fetched to believe that Robbie Patterson will finish the season with average stats, but a great wins-loss record. This quarterback is a winner. Eystin Salum, Legnano Frogs Eystin Salum is proving to be the leader that the Frogs need at the quarterback position. Similar to the teams .500 record, Salum has completed 53% of his passes while compiling 425 yards in two games. Along with 3 touchdown passes, Salum has been reliable for the Frogs, giving them a chance to be successful whenever possible. Similar to other quarterbacks in the IFL, Salum is a threat to run if needed. He has proven as much with 62 yards and lone rushing touchdown so far. In only two games, Salum’s running ability has been seen in flashes, but he has shown enough to become a legitimate threat to opposing defenses going forward. The Frogs offense will only be as good as Eystim Salum is for them. If he is allowed to use his legs to force defenses into more favorable pass coverages, Salum could lead the Frogs to some unexpected wins this season. Conclusion The quarterback is a crucial component of any American Football team, combining physical skills with mental acuity and leadership. Understanding the role and responsibilities of the quarterback provides a deeper appreciation for the strategic depth of American Football. But he is also one of the most promising young prospects in the Spanish American football landscape at the moment. He plays primarily as a Slot Wide Receiver and excels on the field thanks to his polished route running technique, physical playstyle, versatility, and a high football IQ that lets him know what the defense is doing at every moment and manipulate it with an efficient hip play in and out of his breaks. He has the potential to be one of the top route runners to come out of Spain in the next few years. Versatility is Key Another one of his strengths is his versatility as an athlete. He can ball out on offense, defense and special teams, being one of the most reliable kickers in the entire league. He is the best domestic receiver on his team and stands out in a great receiving core with names such as Ethan L. Fischer (receiving TD leader in the league) or the big signing the Camioneros had mid season, Mason T. Wilfong. Currently, García has 2 receiving Touchdowns entering Week 8, but he is the type of guy that excels in catching the tough passes out of the slot on 3rd down with a reliable set of hands. Along with that, he has converted 10 extra points and a Field Goal up to this point. Among his most important achievements during his 4 years playing this sport, Iván had a stint with the Barcelona Dragons last summer where he played as a cornerback against some of the top talent this continent has to offer, once again showing his versatility and availability on the field. Also this past summer he was called up to play for the Team Spain (Spanish men's Senior national team) against Israel, where he split snaps as a receiver, cornerback and kicker. There are several memorable moments throughout my career that have helped me improve as a player, for example winning the Madrid league in my first year as a starter in the team, signing for Dragons in the league with the highest level in Europe and later playing with the Team Spain, among many more. Where did you grow up, and how has your hometown influenced your football journey? I am a kid from a humble neighborhood in Madrid, called Moratalaz, where my hobby was going down to the fields next to my house to play soccer with my friends, which taught me many values ​​such as respect. What sparked your interest in football, and who were your early influences in the sport? What sparked my interest in football were my friends, since we were 4 kids who wanted to do some contact sport, and we saw some tryouts in Coslada, so we didn't think twice and decided to try. I have to say that I had no idea about this great sport. The Beginnings of a Rising Star Can you walk us through your football journey, from your early days to where you are now? When I started my first year I was training as a Running Back, but shortly after they changed me to Cornerback. The first thing I did was watch videos on YouTube to improve and there was a player that I really liked, Richard Sherman, which is why my current favorite NFL team is the Seattle Seahawks. A year later they tried me as a Wide Receiver and I wasn't doing bad, so just like before, I started watching videos to help me build my craft. Obviously my favorite player was DK Metcalf even though he wasn't my prototype player, so I also looked at Odell Beckham JR who I most resemble in my game style. Are there any personal stories or challenges you've faced that have significantly shaped your journey? A challenge that, personally, I am very proud of is about my team. How it has gone from training 4-10 people (at most) 4 years ago and playing in the Madrid regional league to currently playing in the best division and having a great and expanding roster with an enviable staff. The Iván García Sala Playstyle How would you describe your playing style and the skills that set you apart on the field? My skills, primarily as a route runner and Wide Receiver, focuses on speed and explosiveness with a developed technique throughout the year. I can run fast, but also be a technician out of the slot. More than Just a Player Beyond football, what are some of your interests or passions? Apart from football, as a professional career I'm studying geomatic engineering. I also really like to practice other sports such as paddle tennis, tennis and soccer. I also like to simply hang out with my friends, play some video games and have a laugh. The role I have in my team right now is as a mentor. Bulldogs Hope Ground Game Can Lead to Salvation The Bulldogs boast a solid running game, which will be their primary weapon in this contest. However, their passing game remains a concern, currently ranking as the league's lowest scorer with a meager 12 points in two games. Defensively, the Bulldogs have struggled, allowing 53 points. They'll need a significant improvement to contain this Warriors offense that doesn't quit. Warriors Seek Redemption After Second-Half Surge Despite a slow start to the season, the Warriors showed glimpses of promise with a strong second-half performance against the Renegades and the Devils. They possess a more balanced attack compared to the Bulldogs, but initiating a good offensive rhythm early in the game is crucial. Their defense, although allowing the most points in the league (58), has the potential to hold off the Bulldogs' offense. A Battle for Survival This Week 5 encounter is a pivotal moment for both teams. The Bulldogs look to leverage their solid running game to secure their first win, while the Warriors aim to build upon their second-half resurgence and avoid falling further behind in the playoff race. Week 5 of the Portuguese American Football League brings a highly anticipated clash between the undefeated Lisboa Devils (2-0) and the Salgueiros Renegades (2-0) on Sunday, March 17th. This pivotal matchup offers a significant advantage to the winner, as securing a victory guarantees a playoff berth with only three wins needed for qualification. Devils Aim to Maintain Offensive Dominance The high-flying Devils enter the game boasting the league's most potent offense, having amassed a staggering 69 points in just two games. Their dominant run game has been unstoppable thus far. While their defense has been solid, allowing a moderate number of points, a tougher test awaits against the Renegades. Renegades Counter with Defensive Prowess The Renegades, known for their stingy defense, pose a significant threat to the Devils' offensive juggernaut. Currently boasting the second-best defense in the league (allowing only 18 points in two games), their strong box defense could be a game-changer. However, inclement weather conditions could hinder their run-heavy offense, forcing them to adapt their strategy. A Battle for Top Spot and Playoff Positioning This Week 5 matchup carries immense weight for both teams. The Devils seek to maintain their perfect record and solidify their position as one of the title favorites. The off-season keeps moving rapidly. Teams announce new players on a daily basis. We just got over the 700 players mark and this is not showing any signs of slowing down. Therefore, dear readers, without further ado, let’s continue this off-season analysis where we left it a couple of weeks back. HAMBURG SEA DEVILS A very tough off-season for the Sea Devils, let’s face it. Key players leaving the team left and right and from both sides of the ball. Let’s have a look. DEPARTURES Starting Guard Robin Fensch and Tackle Gerrit Brandt leave the team after joining Bravos and Ravens respectively. Rhen Fire finds in David Weinstock the perfect replacement for Joachim Christiensen at center. Offensive A-Imports Preston Haire (Quarterback) and Wide Receiver Malik Stanley do not renew for the team. Malik finding a new home in the Mexican Football League. Competent backup quarterback Moritz Maack takes his talents to Frankfurt Galaxy, whereas 2nd string Wide Receiver and long time Sea Devil Jean Claude Madin Cerezo signs for Madrid Bravos. On the defensive side of the ball things have not gotten any better…if anything…worse. Once well-known as a top unit at league level, Sea Devils Defensive Line has been completely dismantled this off-season. Evans Yeboah goes to Ravens, Jean-Philip Bombek to Vikings and both, Berend Grube and Robert Lachmann walk off to Tirol. Import Linebackers Maurice Wright Jr and Simeon Okonta-Wariso take their talents elsewhere as well. The American returns to the GFL and the British Okonta-Wariso signs for Stuttgart Surge. EXTENSIONS Not many extensions to brag about for Sea Devils fans either. Safety Victor Omorodion and Kicker/Punter Eric Schlomm are the two we can really highlight for Hamburg fans to get a bit excited. To fill this up a bit, let’s name as well the contract renewals of Guard Shalom Baafi, Running Back Simon Homadi and former NFL IPP program invitee, Tight End Levi Kruse. After this?  Well…  quite a few last season 2nd stringers will fight and have a chance for a starting spot in the new Sea Devils 2024. NEW SIGNINGS What about new signings then? Something to get excited with? The biggest name is, undoubtedly, American Wide Receiver Jarvis McClam from Tirol Raiders. He will pair up with American Quarterback Javarian Smith who will make his ELF debut this season after his time in the GFL. Swedish Theodor Landstrom (Barcelona Dragons) and local Noah Bomba (brief stint with the Ravens) aim at providing some extra quality depth to the receivers corps. Euro Imports Austine Igba Ujene from Fehervar Enthroners and Deon Mutsvanemoto from Prague Lions join the team to cover up some of the key losses in the Offensive Line. Micheal Keshinro from the GFL and Zaire Ugapo from Prague Lions will have an almost impossible task of replacing the likes of Yeboah, Bomber, Grube or Lachmann in the Defensive Line. British Toby Naylor will join the Linebacker corps after being invited to the CFL Global Combine. Two American imports will lead the defensive backs unit. Lee Pitts from Wroclaw Panthers and rookie in Europe, Caleb Mills. German Safety Lasse Mayer leaves Rhein Fire to join Hamburg and help out the two Americans. COLOGNE CENTURIONS Rhein Fire is no longer the only ELF team fishing in this pond. Any Centurions’ player who happens to shine one season is immediately recruited next season by their neighbours Rhein Fire, and of lately, by any other team that feels like. Disheartening for Centurions fans we must admit. Let’s check. DEPARTURES American Quarterback Judd Erickson hits free agency and A-Import Wide Receiver Terryon Robinson packs up and joins the Caudillos in the Mexican Football League. German promising Wide Receiver Paul Kavadia Lenhardt joins Galaxy’s receivers rotation and Offensive Line Carlos Carrasco goes back home to Madrid and joins Bravos. On Defense things get worse. Surge goes after very promising young talent like Defensive Line Jan Patrick Schorn and Linebacker Felix Fodinger. To add up to this exciting duo, Stuttgart signs E-Import and former NFL IPP Program invitee (2021) Chad Welrond as well. Rhein Fire continues with the yearly tradition of exploiting Centurions gems. This year is the turn of Defensive Line Jahn Jesus Lara Perez, and rising gems in Linebackers Janek Wenke and Lennart Weitz who took part in the last CFL Global combine. Frankfurt Galaxy acquires last season ELF Rookie of the Year nominee, Linebacker Darren Okoeguale. Milano Seamen attracts ELF All Star American Linebacker Zachary Blair, and Barcelona Dragons signs British Linebacker Jai-Albert Jackson. EXTENSIONS Some interesting contract extensions here though. The biggest by far is American Cornerback Dajon Owens who will stay in Cologne another year after an excellent first season with the team. Some players with ELF experience, but still young, will stick around too. The likes of Cornerback Michael Ofosuhene, Linebacker Sven Appelt, Running Back Gerald Ameln, Offensive Line Fabian Kratz and Wide Receivers Ben Frolich and Valentin Rodiger. Youngsters Kevin Kreider (Offensive Line) and Safety Tom Kleinmann come back for a second season with the team after very promising debuts last year. NEW SIGNINGS American Quarterback Isaiah Weed will lead the team after an impressive season at GFL2 level with Rostock Griffins. His main target will be American Wide Receiver Connor Wedington. It is worth mentioning that Connor has been part of the NFL Seattle Seahawks practice squad until April 2023. The Centurions have invested heavily in the Tight End position after signing two E-Imports for this unit, Finnish Daniel Luoma with NCAA D-1 experience and Dutch Robin Merjenburgh who spent last season in Denmark with the Gold Diggers. The Offensive Line has been revamped and sees quite a few signings. Jan-Hendrik Koch comes back home after a one year stint with Rhein Fire. Young guns like Paul Kolter who joins the team after a short period with the Galaxy and Swedish Viktor Neumann from Berlin Rebels, are other promising additions for the Offensive Line. However, the biggest signing for the Centurions this off-season has been Austrian Linebacker Lucky Obgevoen. This signing shocked the League from North to South. No one saw that one coming. The big question around Lucky is whether he will stay or move to the Canadian CFL if an offer arrives. Other interesting arrivals for the Linebacker corps are Euro import Sverri Finsson with NCAA D-2 experience and German Luis Fiedler who leaves Rhein Fire looking for a more relevant role elsewhere. American Rusher Will Lydle is another very good signing. Will is coming from the Helsinki Roosters where he won All-Stars 1st Team and Sacks Leader honours in the Finnish 1st division. Samoan Lance Leota is another interesting signing for the Defensive Line as long as he manages to stay healthy. Finally, Defensive Back Richard Grooten comes back home after two years with the Rhein Fire along with  German Journeyman Cornerback Benjamin Barnes. MADRID BRAVOS This is a brand new franchise that joins the league this season. Let’s have a quick recap on its signings so far. NEW SIGNINGS The American duo leading the offence will be Quarterback Chris Helbig from Vienna Vikings and Wide Receiver Willie Patterson from Rhein Fire. Two high quality signings for the most important positions in offense, they come with plenty of experience in the ELF and Europe. Veterans Wide Receivers Jean-Claude Marin Cerezo from Sea Devils and Mario Flores will enhance the receivers corps. Big time talent at Running Back as well. From the GFL comes British sensation D’Wayne Obi who played for the New Yorker Lions last season and impressed greatly. Edu Molina is another great signing at Running Back after showing last season with Barcelona Dragons what he is capable of in a non-ideal situation for a runner. Another interesting steal off Barcelona Dragons is Tight End Raul Cernuda. Again, he showed nice flashes last season in a dysfunctional season by the mediterranean team. The best Spanish Offensive Line talent available has gathered together in Madrid in an attempt to lay a solid foundation for the team.  Spaniards with solid ELF experience like Carlos Carrasco (Centurions), Celestin Ngimbi (Musketeers/Dragons), Gabriel Rodriguez (Guards/Dragons) and Edu Sanchez (Musketeers/Dragons/Panthers) lead the group. German Guard Robin Fensch from Sea Devils and British Connor Bolton (Enthroners/Thunder) will provide top quality support to the aforementioned spaniards. On defense, ELF All-Stars and sacks machine, Edge Rusher Alejandro Fernandez comes back home to spread havoc among opposing teams. Bravos have placed a strong bet on going full Spanish in the Defensive Line. Former Barcelona Dragons Sebastian Bowen, ELF Rookie Victor Dos Santos and recent GFL champion Yago Rivero stand out among their Defensive Line peers. British Jonell Pelie (Schwabisch Hall Unicorns) will lead the Linebacker unit along with Spaniards Javier Carrasco (New Yorker Lions), Sandro Moreira (Paderborn Dolphins), Victor Albarracin (Barcelona Dragons) and Sebastian Castañer (Barcelona Dragons). Very promising Defensive Backs unit as Madrid Bravos spends most of its import chips here. A duo of Americans will lead the unit: Cornerback Ja’Len Embry and Safety Luke Glenna who led the ELF in tackles last season. As a Euro import comes french Kevin Fortes from the Sea Devils. Spaniards Andy Vera (Barcelona Dragons), Felix Velasco (Barcelona Dragons), Pablo De Diego (Black Demons) and Pablo Araya from a NCAA D-2 University complete a very strong defensive backs squad.

Saturday March 16, the Gijón Mariners (2-4) will welcome the Osos de Rivas (4-1) at home in the Complejo Deportivo de Las Mestas (Las Mestas Sport Complex), Gijón, at 16:00 (Central European Time). This game comes after a great performance last weekend from the team of northern Spain, Gijón Mariners, who defeated the Alcobendas Cavaliers 22-35 at the José Caballero stadium in Madrid. The Osos de Rivas had a bye week, but prior to that, the team from Madrid had an outstanding performance, also beating the Cavaliers, but 47-0 in a shutout at home. It looks like Osos is coming for it all again like two seasons ago when they won both, the LNFA Serie A Championship (Spanish Bowl), and the Spanish Cup. Both squads have quite a history between them. They have played each other 14 times all-time in the Serie A, with a record of 13-1 for the Osos, being 2017 the last and only time the Mariners were able to come out victorious. Despite only losing against the powerhouse Black Demons, the team that up to date has scored the most on the Rivas defense this season is Gijón, when earlier this year they ended with a score of 41-21 in favor of the Madrid team. Mariners coming in with an explosive running attack After a rough first half of the season, last Sunday the Gijón Mariners tasted victory again. The most remarkable part of the Gijón performance was their rushing offense, being a force on the ground all game against a great and strong front 7 like the Cavaliers´ one. The names that have and will sound the most are the domestic Running Back Alejandro Herrero (number 3 in receiving TDs in the league with 5) and Athlete Javier Castañón (number 2 in rushing TDs in the league with 4). Also, domestic Athlete Rubén Quintana and their Mexican Quarterback William Michael Alexander are names that come to mind right away whenever you think about the Mariners Offense. On the other side of the ball, players to keep an eye on are the already mentioned Rubén Quintana and Javier Castañón, plus Linebacker Roberto Rodríguez, the young Defensive Back Iván Bravo and the Americans Patrick Seijin Stebbins and Jordan Adam Zilbar. The Osos de Rivas defense wants to shut everyone down After 5 games played, Osos is the team that has allowed the fewest points in the league so far with just 37, only 7.4 points per game. This year, a great addition to the team on that side of the ball is the American Linebacker Davante Gabriel, an absolute force in the box and the leader of the group. Alongside him are names such as American Ronald Tomasello, veteran domestic Defensive Back Andy Vera, the youngster who has made a huge jump this year, Defensive Back Carlos Rodríguez, Safety Daniel Franco and the well known Mexican in Spain, Juan Antonio Escobar, who plays Lineman on both sides of the ball. Rivas is not short on offense either. The name that stands out the most is American Quarterback Russell Tabor. The former North Carolina Tar heel is the current passing TD leader in the league with 17 in the air, and 3 on the ground. He has a great group of receiving weapons at his disposal composed of Edu Pérez, Iván Iordanov, Pablo Olivares and the American Gary Tyler. Game´s outcome This game will probably be a lot closer than most people think, being always an intense matchup whenever these two teams clash. An example of this is their first game this year, with an exciting second half where the Gijón Mariners scored more points than anyone on the Osos this season in a comeback attempt. That being said, this may be one of those big years for Rivas with all the power they have on the roster, high-caliber imports plus a well rounded and experienced national squad. So time will tell, but the clear favorites coming into the game are the Osos de Rivas.

Experience the excitement as the Milano Rhinos gear up to face off against the Bologna Warriors in a pivotal Week 3 showdown. Despite a challenging 1-2 start to the season, Milano is eager to capitalize on their recent momentum and secure a crucial victory at home. Milano is More than Ready Now Milano opened the season with a heartbreaking overtime loss on the road against Torino Giaguari, Torino converted a 2-point conversion to win 43-42. Next, they traveled to Rome and came out with a hard-fought victory 27-16 against a solid Lazio Marines team, the game went back and forth until Milano was able to pull away at the end. Last week Rhinos played their home opener against Parma Panthers which ended with the Rhinos on the losing side of a valiant effort. After being down 26-0 in the first half, Milano battled their way back into the game with big offensive plays by Lorenzo Nuzzi and defensive pressure on Parma`s Quarterback. Milano eventually lost 33-26 to the defending champs. Milano will want to continue their momentum from the second half of their last game and get a win against a struggling 0-2 Bologna Warriors. Defense is Confident The Rhinos have played 3 games decided by 10 points or less and are looking to put together a complete game on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Heading into this game Milano's defense will have something to prove, even though they have outscored their opponents 95-92 they have 2 losses giving up 43 points and 33 points in those one score games. The defense has 7 turnovers in 3 games but still average giving up 30.6 points per game. Bologna has only scored one touchdown in 2 games so this could be a game where Milano can build some confidence on the defensive side of the ball. Offense Will Score, Eventually I believe they will create turnovers and give up less than 30 points against Bologna. The Rhinos offense led by Hamish McClure will need to get out to a fast start as they struggled to do so only scoring 7 first quarter points in 3 games.  McClure has thrown for 654 yards and 9 touchdowns on 52% completion. You would like to see his completion percentage be higher, but he has shown he will rarely turnover the ball with just 1 interception in 115 passing attempts. 8 of 9 McClure’s touchdown passes have been caught between wide receiver trio Pulsinelli, Escobar and Bentley. Milano`s run game will need to be a threat to help their pass game and not become a one-dimensional offense. Rhinos Running backs have combined for 115 rushing yards on 44 attempts, McClure has 105 yards on 25 attempts so the running backs and offensive line groups will need to improve in the run game. Game Prediction Overall, Milano is 1 or 2 defensive stops and a slightly more balanced offensive away from possibly being 3-0. They have proven they can compete but, can they end up on the winning side of these close games remains to be answered.  I look for the Rhinos to get back on the winning side this week against a Bologna Warriors team that have lost their first 2 games by a combined score of 97-7.

IFL Week 3 Insight: Parma Panthers Preview - John Uribe (Mar 13) Week 3 of the Italian Football League brings a clash of the two top opponents as the top ranked Parma Panthers travel to play the 3rd ranked Ancona Dolphins this Saturday 18:00 at Campo della Palla Ovale. Power rankings according to the IFL Instagram page. Week 2 Survival Parma Panthers are coming off a season opening win against the Milano Rhinos 33-26. Parma jumped out to a huge 26-0 lead in the first half. Parma`s defense started the game fast and physically stopped Milano`s running and passing attack five drives in a row, before giving up a touchdown right before halftime. The offense put their first points on the board late in the First quarter with a touchdown pass from Robbie Patterson to Wide Receiver Simone Alinovi. In the Second quarter Parma took advantage of some long pass plays and their run offense. Ryan Minniti, who finished the game with 12 carries for 115 yards, capitalized in the Wildcat formation by scoring 3 first half touchdowns. Minniti also added 4 tackles on defense to help the Panthers go into halftime with a 26-7 lead. The Second half was a completely different game as Milano outscored Parma 19-7 and almost had an incredible comeback. Parma`s defense struggled in the second half containing the Running back out of the backfield for Milano. The Rhinos gashed Parma`s defense for 2 long touchdowns. Parma`s defense did not create the same pressure they did in the first half, and they were on the field most of the second half, while Milano sustained long scoring drives. With 11:09 left in the fourth quarter, a controversial call on Panthers 2-way star Ryan Minniti for targeting that resulted in him being ejected from the game. Without Minniti, the Panthers’ offense struggled to get anything going in the run or pass game, a late turnover on a tipped screen pass was intercepted by Milano`s defensive lineman, and kept the door open for a comeback. But, despite Parma`s second half struggles they were still able to come out victorious in a very exciting football game. Wait a Minniti This week I think the biggest concern for the Panther`s is the status of Minniti. Without him the offense and defense struggled, so Minniti is definitely the engine that makes this team go. Without him on the field, Parma seems to be a different team. Regardless of the team's struggles, it was still their first match and knocking off some rust is normal at the beginning of the season. I expect Parma to come out focused and ready to play against a solid contender in Ancona. This week also gives Parma`s team and other playmakers a chance to prove that they can still play at a high level offensively without Minniti, and their team can play a complete football game for all four quarters. Ancona is a great Test If the Panthers do not show up ready to play, Ancona is a good, experienced team that can give them their first loss of the season. Overall, the Panthers showed how deadly their run game can be and have a physical defense. I think Parma is still primed to finish in the top of the standings. Once they have played a few more games and compete in the CEFL International Tournament is when we will know what kind of team Parma has in 2024.

The Special Teams are part of the three compartments of American football. Generally, the offense and defense are the most valued squads. However, the specialists, the players of the special teams, are the unsung heroes of American football. Indeed, it is often the special teams that make the difference in a football game. The Special Teams are moments of transition where the team receiving the ball can make a big play, and the team clearing the ball needs to put the adversary far from their goal line. It is a game segment to master perfectly because an error in this area can be the difference between winning or losing. The role of special teams is crucial, they enter the field during changes of possession, at the beginning of halves, or when a team has scored a touchdown. What are Special Teams? Special teams in American football encompass a set of plays involving kicking the ball, typically on punts, kickoffs, and field goals. These plays involve distinct units on the field, and the players on these units are considered specialists in these kicking situations. Special Teams are used during changing possession, it means that the ball will move from one offense to the other. Special teams play a crucial role in the game strategy, impacting field position, scoring opportunities, and momentum. Teams often emphasize special teams' performance as it can swing the outcome of a game. Let's see in which situations and how each special team’s unit plays and stands out. Kickoff Team The kickoff team kicks the ball to the opposing team to start a game, after a score, or at the beginning of each half. It is composed of one kicker (K) and ten “hunters”, five from each side of the kicker. The ball is kicked at the 40-yard line in the IFL and from the 35-yard line in the NFL. The Kickoff team's role is to run to the kick returner and to tackle him the farthest possible from their goal line so that the opposing offense starts to play in a bad position (far from the end zone). Preventing a long return is the main objective, the hunters need to avoid blockers from the kickoff return and build strong coverage to block off the spaces for the returner and tackle him. The ball can be recovered by the kick-off team in two situations: when the kickoff return team drops the football or makes a fumble after a tackle. Kickoff Positions Kicker: Kicks the ball to the opponent the farthest possible. Coverage Team: Players who sprint down the field to tackle the kick returner and prevent a long return. Kickoff Return Team After an opponent scores or at the start of a half, the kickoff return team attempts to catch the kick and return it for a good field position. It is composed of two returners and nine blockers. The Kickoff return team’s role is to return the ball the farthest possible to score a touchdown or put the offense in a good position (close to the end zone). The blockers need to create protection from the kickoff team, to prevent them from tackling the returner so that he can run the farthest possible. Kickoff Return Positions Kick Returner: Catches the kickoff and runs it back, reading the blocks and running full speed the farthest possible. Kick Block Team: Tries to block the opponent's kickoff and to open spaces for the returner. Punt Team The punt team takes the field on fourth down when the offense decides to punt the ball to the opposing team. When the offense fails the third down conversion, for example, it’s 4th down and more than 2 yards to make to gain a 1st down, it is too dangerous to try to make this 4th down conversion and lose the possession. At this moment the punt team arrives and clears the ball so that the opposing offense starts far away from the end zone. It is composed of a punter, a long snapper, and nine players ready to protect the punter and tackle the punt returner. The Punt team’s role is to clear the field after a failure from the offense to make 10 yards in the first 3 downs. This unit aims to punt the ball far away from their end zone so that the defense is in a good position to face the opposing offense. Punt Team Positions Punter: Kicks the ball as far down the field as possible. Long Snapper: Snaps the ball to the punter who is 15 yards away from him. Punt Coverage Team: Players who aim to protect the punter and after the punt, tackle the punt returner and limit the return yardage. Punt Return Team When the opponent punts the ball, the punt return team aims to catch it and return it for positive yardage. The Punt return team’s role is to advance the ball on the field to put their offense in a good position. Great returns are usually very important in games, it is a way to make the offense’s job easier. The rules can be hard to understand, the ball is alive (can be recovered by the punt team) when a player from the punt return team touches it. Before that, the ball can’t be recovered by the punt team, which usually waits for the returner to catch it or waits that’s the ball to stop rolling on the field to make a play. Punt Return Positions Punt Returner: Catches the punt and evades tacklers to gain yardage. The punt returner can announce a fair catch by moving his arm before the catch. It is to avoid getting hit, and in this case, he can’t move after the catch and the punt team can’t touch him. Punt Block Team: Tries to block the opponent's punt and block the punt team that tries to tackle the returner. Field Goal Unit A field goal is a scoring play where a team attempts to kick the ball through the opponent's goalposts to earn three points. It is one of the ways a team can score aside from touchdowns and extra points. When a team is unable to advance the ball into the opponent's end zone after three attempts (known as downs) and is still within a reasonable distance from the goalposts, they may choose to attempt a field goal on the fourth down. This is common when a team is in a good field position but wants to secure some points instead of risking turning over the ball to the opponent. After a touchdown, it is the same unit that comes on the field to score an extra point (1-point conversion). The ball is placed on the 15-yard line in the NFL (the 3-yard line in the IFL), and the kicker still needs to kick the ball through the opponent’s goalposts to earn seven points in total (6 points for the touchdown, and one point for the extra point). Field Goal Positions Kicker: Attempts to kick the ball through the uprights for a field goal. Holder: Holds the ball in place for the kicker. Long Snapper: Snaps the ball to the holder with precision. IFL SPECIAL TEAMS (WEEK 2) Giaguari Torino, 7 vs Frogs Legnano, 36 Since the beginning of the season, the Giaguari Torino have been a team that excels offensively, their passing game is very effective thanks to their quarterback Nick Dalmaso and a dominant squad of receivers. With an average of 42 points scored in the first two games, a large victory for the Giaguari was expected. However, to everyone's surprise, the Legnano Frogs dominated this game, both defensively and offensively throughout the game, winning 36-7 on a muddy and slippery field. Thanks to a magnificent connection between Eystin Salum, Frog’s quarterback, and their new star receiver, former NFL player Sheehy Giuseppi (Week 2 MVP) the Frogs created a surprise and showed their potential to their opponents. On the Giaguari side, the only touchdown was scored on the first play of the game, on a 78-yard kick-off return, by the wide receiver Tamsir Seck. GIAGUARI TORINO The Giaguari struggled offensively during this match against the pressure applied by the Legnano’s defense. They thus relied on their special teams. Firstly, thanks to a magnificent return by Tamsir Seck on the first play of the match, a 78-yard return. The Giaguari's kick-off return team perfectly blocked the Frogs' kick-off team to prevent them from tackling the returner. The other returner, Andrea Serra, also perfectly served as a lead blocker for Tamsir Seck, meaning he positioned himself in front of him and opened the route to the touchdown. Faced with the impotence of Torino's offense (only 71 passing yards and 45 rushing yards), the special teams were the only real solution for the Giaguari to make progress. This included 3 beautiful kick-off returns by Andrea Serra for a total of 74 yards and another kick-off return by Tamsir Seck for 33 yards. In total, the Giaguari gained 199 yards on kick-off returns in 6 attempts, a very impressive performance from the special teams, and the Giaguari's kick-off return team. FROGS LEGNANO On the other side, the Frogs Legnano shone on offense, thanks to 3 touchdowns by Sheehy Giuseppi, with 11 catches for 233 yards. This outstanding performance by the former Cleveland Browns receiver set the Frogs on the path to victory. Eystin Salum also scored a rushing touchdown and led his team with 358 passing yards. The Frogs could also rely on a dominant defense. With 4 sacks by the defensive line Tamburrino, including one that caused a touchdown fumble recovery by Elia Antonini, the Frogs' defensive line suffocated the Giaguari's offensive line. The Frogs' special teams played a small role in this victory with an 18-yard punt return by Sheehy Giuseppi and an 11-yard kick-off return by Alii Saad. Furthermore, after the failure of the Frogs' kicker Nirta on the conversion attempt for the first touchdown, the Frogs converted their other 3 touchdowns with two-point conversions.

He is a young kid from Brazil who moved to Spain while in High School. He then discovered the sport of American football, where in less than two years of playing, he is climbing up the ladder and making a name for himself to become the next great Offensive Lineman to come out of Brazil and Spain. A Quick Background Check Measuring at 1.92 m tall, Leite plays mostly right tackle, but he is an athletic prospect who can play anywhere on the offensive line, even having a little bit of experience as a Nose Tackle. One of his most important accolades up to this point in his career is to be called up to play the World Cup for the Brazilian U20 National Team this upcoming summer. THE THRILLS OF AMERICAN FOOTBALL What's the most thrilling moment you've experienced on the football field? Can you please introduce yourself to our readers? I am Pedro Leite, Offensive Lineman of Alcobendas Cavaliers. I think the most thrilling moment was when I won my first game with the Cavaliers. It was my first official game with the senior team, and I experienced what it is like to be a Serie A player and play against the best of the best this country has to offer. And being one of my first experiences with the Senior team of Alcobendas, it is really a special moment for me. Early Life and Career Where did you grow up, and how did your childhood influence your love for football? How did your journey in football begin? My story with football is brief, to be honest. When I was younger, I had little interest in the sport, but I couldn’t apply to any team in Brazil. Everything changed in the summer of 2022 when I received a call from a friend (Juan Martínez, current teammate), asking me to join him in the Cavs offseason training camp, and I just fell in love with it right away. After that, I just discovered a new family here in Spain, starting from the bottom with zero knowledge on the Junior team, to climb up the ladder and play alongside the veterans of the Senior team in the first division. Career Highlights What is your current role within your team or the league and how do you see It evolving? It’s just my official rookie season with the Senior team, but in the future, I want to make the Cavaliers one of the best teams in Spain and be a legend like other players who have been here. Basically, to embrace this team and mark the right way for the future, and future newcomers as well. Can you share some standout moments in your football career? What are some of your proudest achievements or records in your career? As I said before, I don’t have a long history in Alcobendas, but what I am proudest about is to have been invited to play with the National Team of Brazil. It was a dream I had, and it is a way to confirm that I am improving and getting better at my position. Also it’s a huge honor to say that I was called by the Spanish National Team too, but because I don’t have the nationality yet, I’m not eligible. Get to Know Pedro Are there any personal challenges you've faced that have shaped your journey? What motivates you on and off the field? Any hobbies or interests outside of football? In my first season in 2022/2023, I was facing a tough time in my personal life, and football was the only thing I had to relieve myself. I didn’t need to think about anything besides training. Talking about my personal life, at the moment I'm a biomedicine student here in Madrid, but I’m thinking about switching to general medicine. My aspiration is to become a doctor in the future. Have there been any personal moments that have shaped your journey? I believe the game that changed me as a player was last year against Osos de Rivas. It was one of my first games ever. We were tied, but we ended up losing. This experience helped me realize I was not playing aggressively enough, making me understand that technique is not always the most important thing, and that if you want to win you have to hit hard. Final Words In your own words, how do you think you've impacted the sport of football? What message would you like to leave with our readers? The message I would like to convey is basically to keep working. Two years ago, I hardly knew what football was, but today I play in one of the best teams in Spain and will participate in a World Cup this summer.
