DAFL Power Rankings - Week 1

The first season of the Danube American Football League officially kicked off, giving fans a taste of exciting plays, big moments, and some surprises on the field. Only two matches were played, but the games highlighted both dominance and resilience from the teams involved.

  1. Kragujevac Wild Boars

Wild Boars came out of the gates with authority, proving once again why they are

considered one of the strongest teams in the league.

After a brief slow start, the team quickly found its rhythm and took full control of the game. Wild Boars quickly imposed their tempo and took full control on both sides of the ball. From that point on, they dictated the pace and never allowed the Bears to find any rhythm.

The defense played a crucial role in the win, delivering a physical and disciplined performance throughout the game. DB/WR Dimitrije Novaković recorded an interception, while LB John Rincon led the charge with three forced fumbles and two recoveries. Stefan Milojević also added a fumble recovery, as the unit consistently created turnovers and shut down any sustained drives.

On offense, QB Isaiah “Zay” Green stood out with an MVP-caliber performance. He accounted for six total touchdowns (five passing and one rushing) showing excellent vision, composure, and accuracy. Green connected with multiple targets, spreading the ball effectively to Stefan Đurić, Dimitrije Novaković, Aleksa Đokić, Vukašin Gajović, and Aleksa Stevanović, each finding the end zone.

Behind solid protection from the offensive line, the passing game flowed efficiently, while the run game added balance, including a rushing touchdown from RB Bogdan Đorđević.

  1. Bucharest Titans

The Bucharest Titans celebrated a milestone with their first-ever win against the Rebels. The Titans demonstrated why they have earned a reputation as a tough, competitive team in the league.

The Titans’ defense played a key role in the win, delivering impactful plays throughout the game. DB Dimitar Stefanov recorded first interception, while LB Silviu Lungu and Andrei Stanciu consistently applied pressure, contributing with solid tackles and strong run defense to contain the Rebels’ offense.

A standout performance came from DB/WR Bigo Mostafa, who showcased his versatility on both sides of the ball. He recorded a touchdown on offense, added an interception on defense, and racked up significant yardage, proving to be a constant threat.

QB Samuel Armstead led the offense efficiently, throwing two touchdown passes, but also recorded an interception. His connection with top WR Chad Turner was especially effective, as Turner gained solid yardage through the air and also found the end zone, making both receivers key contributors in the passing game.

Overall, the victory serves as a major confidence boost for the Titans, proving they can compete in tight matchups against strong opponents. With this result, they firmly claim the #2 spot in the Week 1 DAFL power rankings.

  1. Sofia Bears

The Sofia Bears fought hard in their DAFL season opener but ultimately couldn’t match the dominance of their Serbian opponents. Despite the loss, the team showed flashes of potential and determination on both sides of the ball.

Early in the game, WR Emil Goryanov made an immediate impact, responding to an opponent’s touchdown with a kick return touchdown of his own. On defense, LB Kristian Evtimov recovered a fumble in the end zone and made several important tackles, helping keep the Bears competitive. Meanwhile, LB Ivan Apostolov and DE Andrey Raykov consistently pressured the opposing quarterback, forcing incompletions and recording tackles for loss.

At halftime, the Bears made a quarterback adjustment, replacing Christian Chan in an effort to generate points and spark the offense. RB Shannon Pereira showed determination on the ground but struggled to gain significant yardage against a tough defensive front.

Although the Bears couldn’t keep pace on the scoreboard, their resilience and key defensive plays demonstrated the team’s potential. Fans can look forward to seeing how Sofia adjusts in future matchups and capitalizes on scoring opportunities in the coming weeks.

  1. Bucharest Rebels

The reigning Romanian champions, suffered a rare setback in their season opener, falling to the Titans in muddy and challenging conditions, marking one of their first losses in years.

QB Sorin Marin struggled to find rhythm, throwing two interceptions, while top WR Gabriel Tache was largely contained and unable to make a major impact. The Rebels did manage to move the ball at times and were close to the end zone on multiple drives, but were unable to finish and convert those opportunities into points.

Despite the offensive difficulties, there were some positives. RB Mircea Cionoiu showed determination on the ground, battling tough field conditions and a strong defense, even if yards were hard to come by. On defense, LB Petru Matache contributed with an interception, providing a key moment for the team.

Overall, the conditions played a significant role, limiting the Rebels’ ability to execute offensively. While the game exposed areas that need improvement, the Rebels still show strong potential, especially with a talented receiver core.

They will now look to bounce back in their next matchup against the Wild Boars.
